Description
Kent County Council wishes (KCC) wishes to enter into a contract or contracts for the provision of Metal Recycling Services. The contract(s) will require the processing of all metal arising from the 19 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) in Kent. The concessionaire must be able to meet the below requirements: - The capability and capacity to receive and process, at a minimum, the estimated annual tonnage of metal for each Lot they are bidding for. - Process both Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals. The concessionaire will also be required to have in place: - A waste processing facility with appropriate permitting and planning permissions. - An electronic weighbridge for the weighing-in of material delivered to their facility to provide KCC with the appropriate management information (including weigh-loader transaction listings). - Policies and procedures that recovers materials in accordance with the waste hierarchy to maximise reuse and recycling and to avoid sending any waste to landfill. - Robust service contingency plan to ensure continuity of services in the event of plant failure, etc. The overall estimated volume for this contract is up to 7,000 tonnes per annum. This contract is split into 'operational' lots based on regional requirements: Lot A - West Kent: circa. 2.000 tonnes per annum. Lot B - Mid Kent: circa. 2,500 tonnes per annum. Lot C - East Kent: circa. 2,500 tonnes per annum. Tenderers can bid for one or all Lots as well as any combination of Lots.
