To do this, it is imperative that historic buildings, both listed and those of traditional construction, are recognised as part of a solution to tackling climate change. Historic England's guidance plays a crucial role in providing advice as to how our historic building stock can be successfully managed and adapted without harming their heritage values and significance.

Monitoring and evaluating progress are a crucial component of climate adaptation. Information about the impacts and successes of adaptation actions helps us to identify success, manage risk and unintended consequences and make the case to continue and scale up initiatives that work.
