Provision of Gas Tight Suits for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service

Exemption signed off for the supply of Gas Tight Suits with Respirex.

Respirex were the only supplier who could supply a suit that met the current specification that was in use at SFRS. It was confirmed that changing the specification of suit could have a lot of implications in terms of fire fighter protection and changes to training requirements. I researched potential frameworks for gas tight suits and currently none exist. It also looks as though other FRS across the country use the same supplier.

There is no Contract in place with the supplier and individual orders will be place with the supplier. The Contract end date is the date that the exemption covers.

The value is an estimate. I put £50K for the value as its estimated to be between £45 -£52K.
