Work description

The University is looking to appoint a Contractor with experience of building farm sheds and buildings, to design, supply and build a new dairy farm midden at the University of Lincoln's Riseholme Farm. The midden will enable students studying agriculture based courses to experience best practice in farmyard manure storage as well as ensuring the Riseholme Farm is compliant with environmental regulations, avoiding ground water pollution.

The midden's proposed dimensions are 407m2, 30m long x 14.5m wide, with a 6m height at the eaves. Planning permission has been submitted and the determination date is likely to be during August 2024.

The University anticipates that the programme is likely to be c. 4-6 weeks, however, the full programme will be agreed with the successful contractor. The University anticipates that the Works will commence in October 2024 (subject to planning).

The contract form for these works is the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Short Contract (ECSC) and the Scope and Site Information can be found within the tender documents for this opportunity. Site visits will be available for tenderers to attend the Riseholme farm and view the site for the works. Tenderers who are interested in attending a site visit are asked to refer to the instructions within the ITT document.

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
