The purchase involves upgrading an existing Vocus-PTR in our lab with a Gas Chromatograph (GC) analyser to enhance its capabilities for advanced gas-phase monitoring and analysis. This upgrade includes bespoke components and proprietary, uniquely specialised software tailored for coupling this GC to the Vocus-PTR, which acts as a detector downstream of the GC. The upgrade is essential for advancing research capabilities in atmospheric chemistry, including the quantification of organic compounds but also DMS and MeSH, which are all pivotal in understanding ocean climate regulation through cloud-feedbacks.
