Work description

We are seeking to appoint a specialist public art team or producer who can commission and manage artist(s), and the fabrication and installation of their works in Southmere, our first major development in Thamesmead.

The total budget for all fees, fabrication and installation costs is £175,000 + VAT

This tender asks you to detail your approach to selecting and appointing artist(s), and how you would support and manage them to develop creative proposals for two key areas of opportunity:

The first site is a pair of prominent walls of a residential block (Block 4) facing the main road Harrow Manor Way which will be handed over in June 2022. These walls could be considered together or individually and could house flat or relief artworks at scale, bringing a visual identity, navigational markers or texture to this gateway building.

The second site is Cygnet Square and Wagtail Walk, which together make up the majority of the new public realm. The landscaping for these large areas will be complete by May 2021 and will comprise of a diverse and high quality soft landscape of trees, shrubs and herbaceous planting set amongst high quality paved areas.

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
