Description
Harlow Council has a duty under the provisions of the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 (Section 46) to arrange for the disposal of persons who die within its boundaries, where it appears to the Council that no suitable funeral arrangements can be made. Therefore, the Council is inviting tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Funeral Directors willing and able to provide burials and cremations in accordance with the above. The Council is unable to guarantee either the volume or frequency of the services throughout the term of the contract but would expect approximately 1 funeral and 20 cremations per annum. This figure will fluctuate according to demand. The contract shall have a duration of twenty-four months commencing on 1 October 2021 with an option, at the sole discretion of the Council, to extend the contract for a period not exceeding twenty-four months.
