Work description
Bath & North East Somerset Council are seeking planning permission for a new two classroom building at Swainswick Primary School in Bath. The new building is to replace two existing temporary classrooms which following a thorough building survey have been classed with a red warning meaning 'serious or critical issues' exist. This is a condition led scheme whereby several options have been reviewed. The options were to refurbish existing, replace one or replace both classrooms. It was determined by the SCOT team that a replacement of both classrooms should be progressed further.
The development includes the demolition of the existing two Pratten buildings and re-providing the accommodation with a singular single storey building. The proposed accommodation needs to provide a central lobby and toilet accommodation in addition to the two classrooms. It should be noted that the site for this project is very restrictive and therefore it is proposed that the new building will need to be phased allowing part handover for each classroom.
