## Description

The consultant is to prepare a specification for taking concrete core samples of the deck and for undertaking petrographic examination, scanning electron microscopy \(SEM\) and X-ray diffraction \(XRD\) to determine whether potentially alkali reactive aggregates are present, and if so, whether there is any evidence of alkali-aggregate reaction \(AAR\) or any other form of concrete deterioration\. The specification should include the locations of all concrete cores, taking due account of the post-tensioning system\. It should also include a schedule of petrographic examinations, SEM and XRD\. Drawings should be provided as part of the specification\.
