Work description

Stanley Ferry Bridge carries Ferry Lane over a non-navigable section of the River Calder adjacent to Stanley Ferry Marina.

The requirement for detailed concrete inspection and testing has been determined from previous inspections by Wakefield Council.

Survey and testing works include: -

i. Sounding survey and visual location of defects. ii. Half-cell potential survey. iii. Cover meter survey. iv. Measurement of carbonation depth. v. Sampling and determination of chloride ion content level in hardened concrete. vi. Endoscope survey. vii. Reporting.

To carry out the survey and testing works the Contractor will provide and have full responsibility for traffic safety and management, access provision and provision of appropriate welfare facilities.

The resulting report will be used by Wakefield Council to determine repair and refurbishment of the bridge. Wakefield Council will have close liaison with the Contractor to determine salient information from the survey and testing work.
