## Description

The Primary Care Psychological Therapies \(PCPT\) service will be a community based service, building firmly on the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies \(IAPT\) programme \(http://www\.iapt\.nhs\.uk/\)\. It will offer a range of evidence based psychological interventions including NICE approved/recommended psychological therapies in line with relevant clinical guidance; associated with improved service user outcomes and recovery rates\. The Primary Care Psychological Therapies service will deliver a Step 2, Step 3 and ‘Step 3 Plus’ model where time limited, psychological therapies is likely to have a positive outcome for the individual\. The diagnostic groups likely to benefit from PCPT approaches include the following: Traditional IAPT services: • Depression \(including antenatal and postnatal\) • Generalised anxiety disorder • Mixed depression and anxiety • Panic disorder • Obsessive-compulsive disorder • Health anxiety \(Hypochondriasis\) • Post-traumatic stress disorder • Phobias \(including social anxiety disorder &amp; social phobias\) IAPT ‘Plus’ services: Adjustment disorders Anger management Mild learning disability or cognitive impairment Personality disorder \(not severe\) Other comorbid mental health conditions \(e\.g\. non-acute or stable psychosis\) Eating disorders \(mild-to-moderate\) Depression or anxiety in adults with a chronic physical health problem \(long term condition\)or medically unexplained symptoms \(Note: where anxiety or depression-related symptomatology is present and where PCPT services are likely to have a positive outcome for the patient\) Additional information: AQP contracts are let on a zero value, zero volume basis and the tariff is set by the Commissioner\.
