Work description

Background: The Pathogen Surveillance in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (PATHSAFE) programme is a cross government, Shared Outcomes Fund (SOF) research programme which aims to pilot a national surveillance programme for foodborne diseases and antimicrobial resistance. Requirement: Cefas requires the supplier to provide technical services, to detect and quantify Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) genes in DNA samples extracted from shellfish and wastewater using the SmartChip Real-Time PCR method. DNA samples will be collected from Weymouth, UK and will be delivered by Cefas to the supplier. A customised SmartChip will be required to detect the genes of interest and the real-time PCR will be performed. In addition to the above, Cefas also require the supplier to provide analysis of the data and access to a data platform to visualise and download the results.
