This research will review and propose changes to the W10 and W12 freight gauge definitions. It will create a robust evidence base to inform the proposed changes and ensure that these maximise as much as possible the opportunity to accommodate more wagon and container combinations within the W10 and W12 gauges without affecting route clearance for W10 and W12. The analysis will also show where additional gauge enhancement work could unlock the possibility for additional container flows.
