## Description

The Community Equipment Service \(CES\) provides a vital service to residents, enabling them to maintain their independence at home\. Through commercial partnerships with other local authorities and NHS bodies we facilitate over 100,000 deliveries a year of essential pieces of health and social care related equipment\. To ensure CES provides best value, equipment is collected once a resident no longer needs it\. The equipment is cleaned, decontaminated and refurbished to a standard whereby it can be reissued to a resident in the community\. A large proportion of this equipment is made of tubular metal and solid plastic - making them suitable candidates to be cleaned using an industrial cleaning machine; for example: walking frames, commodes, toilet frames and transfer aids\. CES currently issue 800 items \(made up of 34 different lines of equipment\) a month, and 9,000 items a year, that has been recycled by the service and identified as equipment that could be cleaned by use of a machine\. This category of equipment is currently cleaned by hand, using cleaning chemicals and cloths\.
