Work description
This ITT is for the learning and evaluation strand of the Age-friendly and Inclusive Volunteering Grant Programme. In this context we mean learning and evaluation of the grant-funded projects, rather than the overall grant programme.
The Centre for Ageing Better, in partnership with the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS) recently undertook a review into community contributions in later life. The review report - Age-friendly and Inclusive Volunteering: Review of community contributions in later life - was published in October 2018. The review found that many older people who would benefit most from contributing to their communities encounter practical, structural and emotional barriers which prevent them from taking part, or from remaining involved as life changes. It called on voluntary organisations to do more to tackle these barriers and set out six key principles for achieving this.
