Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Assessments

Barnet Council has legal duties as part of the Mental Capacity Act Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). These safeguards exist to protect people in care homes and hospitals. Where a deprivation is identified the provider must apply to the Local Authority for authorisation. The Council developed an approved list of suppliers in April 2016, the Council re-opened this approved list for new applicants to apply for the remaining duration of the approved list (2020).
