## Description

Sheffield is England's third largest metropolitan authority with a population of 569,000 \(mid-2018 estimate\)\. Hillsborough is the city's second largest district centre located 3 miles north west of the City Centre\. Two applications are currently under consideration that may affect the viability/vitality and investment in Hillsborough District Centre and/or other nearby local centres\. The first application, submitted in July 2018, is for the erection of a Class A1 retail foodstore \(18/02802/FUL\) for which Lidl are committed to\. It is located on Stannington Road close to its junction with Holme Lane\. The second \(19/00037/FUL\), submitted in January 2019, is for 3no\. Class A1 units, 2no\. drive thru restaurants and other uses located between Penistone Road and Herries Road\. Both applications are within half a mile of Hillsborough District Centre in opposite directions\. Both applications can be viewed on the Council's online portal \.
