## Description

LBN is planning to implement the Specialist Stop Smoking service in response to learnings from the Covid response\. Newham has higher rates of smoking-related illness compared to the London average\. There are higher mortality rates from COVID-19 among people with smoking-related illnesses \(e\.g\. COPD and cardiovascular disease\)\. There is, therefore, a clear need to enhance the Council's stop smoking offer as soon as possible for the remainder of 20-21 and all of 2021-22\. This is the purpose of this procurement\. Longer-term, from 2022 onwards, the council intends to implement an Integrated Health & Wellbeing service that may include Stop Smoking services\. These plans were put on hold due to COVID and will be re-activated soon\. The Council would like the contract to commence in November 2020 and is considering a one year contract, with the option to extend for one further year\. This is a notice of contract award\.
