## Description

Imported food helps to ensure food availability and variety in the UK\. The food imported to the UK meets strict standards and is subject to a robust sanitary and phytosanitary \(SPS\) control system, that includes a range of things from certification to border controls\. The FSA is also interested in imported food production standards related to animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and nutritional composition, given the consumer interest in these topics\.
