Large woody material installation and swale creation - Ryevitalise Landscape Partnership

Installation of large woody material (LWM) and channel creation at Bonfield Ghyll Farm, Helmsley. Install a series of four large wood material structures along a 40m stretch of Bonfield Gill to improve: Diversity in flow conditions and habitats. Natural flood management through water retention and attenuation of flows. Ecological enhancement of the in-stream and riparian zone. Work consisting of: Transportation of LWM to Work Site 1 (450m) Excavation of the bank in preparation for installation Installation of LWM and anchoring with boulders (to be obtained with agreement from estate quarry to west of holding) Site restoration Contour Wetland Swale (CWS) with overland flow: realign 20-30m of channel to encourage even dispersal of flow to surrounding ground, attenuate flows and reduce erosion.
